LanProto

Components

LAN3-o

The system consists of the following items:

Enclosure

LAN3-o

3D printed components

The printed parts needs a total filament mass of ~370 grams and take about 2 days to print on a Prusa I3 mk2 printer. We recommend the use of PLA material in black color. Black is better to attenuate the light inside the instrument.

You can find the 3D print link of each piece below the image of each one.

Operating modes

LAN3-o

Manual mode (Mode 0)

This mode is identified by the 0 on the 3 way switch. In the manual mode the data acquisition is started using the remote control (long press on button D). When the button is pressed, a sequence of measurements will be taken. Thanks to the auto gain and integration time algorithm, it is suggested to take a couple of measurements after powering up the LANcube. This will allow the auto gain and integration time algorithm to optimize the accuracy of the measurements. As long as the system is not powered off, this startup procedure do not have to be done again.

Automatic mode

Automatic mode is intended to sample the temporal variation of the light at night. We provide two different temporal sampling frequencies depending on the application.

Highly variable light environments (Mode I)

This mode is identified by the I on the 3 way switch. The LANcube use variable integration time and variable gain to optimize accuracy while keeping the integration time as low as possible. In that mode, the LANcube will not wait between each measurements. We suggest this mode when it is time to use the LANcube on top of a car (road runner mode) in order to map the light field over large territories.

Reserved (Mode II)

This mode is identified by the II on the 3 way switch. We keep this mode free for future features that may arise from the users.

Automatic mode

Automatic mode is started with long press on button A. To quit the mode, simply do a long press on button B. The led will do quick blink when this mode is activated.
