Demanderqchp-tenerifeProject DescriptionTitleAssessing the contribution from different parts of Tenerife and La Palma islands to artificial spectral sky luminance levels over European Northern Observatories SummaryWe suggest to use a third generation night sky brightness model which account for heterogeneous distribution of light fixtures, their photometry, the ground reflectance and topography along with hyperspectral sky brightness measurements to infer contribution of different zones of Tenerife and La Palma islands to astronomical observation sites sky brightness. This sensitive study will allow the identification and evaluation of critical island zones. The project aim to identify and characterize zones at which any lighting level increase or decrease may have a larger impact on light pollution at both European Northern Observatory sites, and then help to control and/or reduce their light pollution levels. An estimate of 100000 CPU-hours will be required to achieve that project. Professor Aubé, which is the main investigator, will be invited scientist of Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias - IAC for a 6 month period to achieve that experiment. List of usersThe main user will be the research director Martin Aubé who will be in 6 month sabbatical leave to achieve that project, but some works will also be done occasionnally by his graduate student Jean-Denis Giguère and undergraduate students Baptiste Royer, Laurent Fradet, Pascal Laferrière-Langlois and Antoine Savage. All these users are already in the users list of RQCHP granted access to Mammouth-serie II. List of publications using RQCHP ressources in 2009As of now only two publications have been made with RQCHP 2009 ressources. The first one is an oral presentation at ACFAS annual meeting and the second one is a Master degree thesis. The complete references are given below:
